The Hospice is running a programme with Barry Hearn and local schools, where Barry has given teams of young people £250 (who had to put in a business plan). This money has been matched by Barclay’s Bank. The young teams then have to raise as much money as possible for the Hospice. The scheme is called MATCH.
I visited King Solomon School in Ilford with Barry, where unfortunately the original team had had to drop out but a young lady had stepped in and was making and selling unique tye dye socks and T shirts. Barry was very impressed and although she has little time in this years scheme we do hope she will apply for next year. She was certainly an entrepreneur.
The final awards ceremony which will be at Leyton Orient Football stadium on the 10th May. We have also started recruiting to MATCH 2
